I was feeling like this will be a long wait with the crowds standing outside the restaurant. In my surprise it went as fast as estimated time of the kiosks. They are very fast and efficient with their staff walking around and attentive to their customers. I'm so sad i did not take any photos. I had to put my phone away because the table was small. Just enough to fill the table with food tray. We ordered appetizers like shrimp tempura and sashimi salad. I would skip the salad it only had 4 pieces of tuna. Good serving size. We got the pork katsu and the chicken curry katsu. These meals come with a cabbage salad ,miso soup, white rice and pickled radish and onions with chilli. The katsu sauce was my favorite.taste so good with the chopped peanuts on top and the cabbage salad was so refreshing. My pork katsu was fried perfectly, served fresh and hot of the fryer. My hubby had the curry sauce on the side so he also had his chicken katsu freshly made. I would have to mention that the floor towards the restroom is slippery. Maybe need rubber mats. Try this place out. When u get there let someone else go to the kios to put ur place in line.

Tried Hako on a whim since we were in the area and it definitely was a great choice! We joined the waitlist on the iPad that's by the front door and waited for maybe 15 minutes at around 1pm on a Saturday. We started with Takoyaki which was fine but wouldn't reorder. My sister ordered the chicken Katsu, chicken was crispy and flavorful, I ordered the cheese katsu which was so cheesy but kept together by a thin layer of meat, made for a great bite! All sets come with miso soup, a salad, a couple pickled dishes, rice and sauces. I opted for the spicy curry which was not too hot but had a great flavor, it was a $3 add on. Service was quick and very friendly, the restaurant was clean and though a bit small, they made it work well! Would definitely return if I was back in the area and craving katsu!

I have been on an katsu kick lately and have gotten it almost every weekend. Discovered Hako after running errands in the Tustin area so we stopped by for lunch. Thankfully there was no wait when we came around 11:30am on a Saturday - however, the lines picked up very quickly by noon with quite the wait. Hako Tonkatsu ($14.95): Generous portion of katsu with 8 pieces, served alongside a cabbage salad, rice, miso soup, katsu sauce, and a mixture of pickled jalapeño/onion + radish. Crispy and tender pork that paired nicely with the creamy sauce. Nabeyaki Udon ($15.95): An individual sized hot pot with udon, cabbage, fish cake, sliced fried tofu, mushrooms, seaweed, and 2 pieces of shrimp tempura. Good portion of noodles and toppings included - broth was a tad too sweet for my taste but can always add a little bit of water to dilute. Fairly large space with plenty of seating, clean, and very open concept. Located in the same plaza as Zion market.

Casual restaurant located in shopping plaza with ample parking. This place is popular and crowded, so chances are you will have to enter your name on the waiting list and wait for a table to open up. Friendly service. Great food. Can't wait to go back!

Great lunch spot, long wait so make sure you sign up on the wait-list. Our group got a variety of appetizers and main dishes, including the curries. The cheese katsu curry was the fan favorite of the table. It's part of a plaza, so parking is really dependent on how busy it is. Would likely not recommend for large groups 8+ people, it'd be a bit snug. Staff was friendly, service was fast!

My friend had been RAVING about this spot and I had to find out why. Luckily her birthday was coming around and it was finally my chance to try it! PARKING: Ample parking WHAT I ORDERED: * Cheese katsu * Hire katsu, with curry * Hako tonkatsu THE FOOD: We decided to try the Hako tonkatsu since that sounded like what they're known for. And we're glad we did - very solid tonkatsu! Everything worked together well, from the cabbage to the pickles to the soup to the amazing sauce. The hire-katsu was even better, I think. It felt a little bit juicier/fattier, and I'd definitely get it again. But what really blew me away was the cheese katsu! It sounds simple, but something about that cheese pull in the middle of the juicy and crispy meat was life-changing. All of these paired veryyyy well with the curry sauce. SERVICE: Very kind and attentive VIBES: Definitely got a bit busy so not a quiet place, but great for grabbing a bite to eat with friends or family. It did feel a little bit tight. BOTTOM LINE: Get the cheese tonkatsu and don't forget to order the curry! I'll be back.

We got both the shrimp udon and fish katsu with curry! Both were delicious and I highly recommend ordering curry with the katsu. Service was lovely as well.
